History of OPC

Jo-Anne Corbeil pioneered the vision for OPC - Ontario Psychotherapy and Counseling Program in the year 2000. She conducted the first bi-monthly learning groups in the year 2000. In 2000, Jo-Anne then invited Barbara Dewar to co-create with her in expanding and carrying out the vision for the OPC program. The following year the training program expanded to the forum that is presently used.

Blake Carter was invited as an OPC Associate faculty member in April 2006 in order to facilitate a mixed learning group. Furthermore, since September 2008, Blake co-facilitated with Barbara Dewar at the residencies until February 2009. He presently conducts some of the bi-monthly learning groups.

Adam Crabtree and Heather Lee Kilty joined the faculty as OPC Associates adjunct faculty in January 2007. Both Adam Crabtree and Heather Lee Kilty have conducted special seminars for the students on topics relevent to OPC studies.

Amy McGrath joined the faculty of OPC as the faculty tutorial assistant in May 2008. Amy provides tutoring for students in all aspects of their academic projects and reviews, as well as assisting with the preparation of professional membership applications. In June 2009, Amy was invited to become an Associate faculty member and conduct one of the bi-monthly learning groups.

As you will see from our biographies, we each bring our own skills, talents and knowledge to the OPC program; however, as a faculty we very much operate in an ongoing interconnected dialogue based on honesty, integrity, love and respect for one another.
